Hacking PS3 question about homebrew

Hello, my brothers have a PS3 and are looking at getting homebrew. I know that their firmware is 4.31 because they got theirs before the 4.40 update happened, thing is, not sure what version of PS3 they have (the latest, "new look" version I think based on the JB website), is it possible to hack this and if so, what would i have to do?

What is the model number of that PS3? It is written on the back with something like CECH.

If you think its the new version (Super Slim) you won't be able to hack it until a new way to do it comes. So far the Cobra ODE is the newest tool that "might" be able to crack the keys. So we can only wait.

thanks for the info, shame I did not know before falling for the PS3jail trick, fell for it because they used the name of a real PS3 CFW in the post (rogero), oh well,
