Hey everybody,
I’ve been trying to install an HDD to play games on my PS2 (SCPH 30001 I picked up back in the day) with limited success and was hoping to get some suggestions on what my issue is.
I have 2 different hard drives that I’ve tried this with:
3.5” 2TB Barracuda ST2000DMA08
2.5” 500 GB taken straight out of an old PS4.
I purchased a FMCB v1.966 off the internet and a GameStar SATA adapter.
The problem when using the GameStar SATA adapter is that it never detects the HDD. This is true when using the HDD Manager and OPL. I’ve heard that the GameStar SATA adapters are really hit or miss and when this didn’t work I purchased the SATA mod for the original PS2 network adapter. After installing the mod I now run into the issue that when the PS2 tries to access the HDD via OPL or HDD Manager it seems to freeze in the HDD Loading screen. I’ve left it running for 5 minutes with no progress so I figured its stuck.
So at this point I don’t know if the issue is with the console, the adapter, the mod, or the HDDs.
Has anyone one experienced this before?
