PS1/2 ps2 anti static point khs-400b

Ok so the laser on my ps2 Phat SCPH- 30001 system failed so i bought a new one on ebay and it didn't work. Ive heard around that there's a anti static point that needs to be soldered for it to work. Any ideas on how to go about it?

It needs to be DE soldered on one of the ribbons you will see a blob of solder joining 3 points together. With a soldering iron just melt the centre to brake the joint.

I concur with cobleman, I've read this recently myself (can't find the link) Just check the ribbon cable do you see a soldered point??

Don't bump threads after 24 hours.

The anti static point is usually a clearly visible blob of solder, here's where you can find it on a PS2 Phat laser:

Ive seen that picture before. But in that spot on mine there isn't a dot. Mine just has two little boxes

Precisely, that should do the trick. Be extra-careful, don't damage the ribbon.
