Ok so the laser on my ps2 Phat SCPH- 30001 system failed so i bought a new one on ebay and it didn't work. Ive heard around that there's a anti static point that needs to be soldered for it to work. Any ideas on how to go about it?

It needs to be DE soldered on one of the ribbons you will see a blob of solder joining 3 points together. With a soldering iron just melt the centre to brake the joint.

The anti static point is usually a clearly visible blob of solder, here's where you can find it on a PS2 Phat laser:
