Haven't been keeping up to date since it was first announced, but what exactly does the PSGroove do? If it just opens up a way for homebrew and/or bypass mandatory updates, I'll still use it

They have already enabled the backup launcher back on the open source. You can pretty much create your own dongle now.. I feel sorry for the companies that have to sell all of it now.

The teensy++ board was specifically noted as being useful for this... and then it sold out within a day.

While it does say piracy features have been removed, somebody else released a version with it working.

I see. I don't care too much about that since PS3 games are really huge, but it would be nice if we were at least allowed to make a backup of our own games onto an HDD though. Hopefully someone would incorporate it into their own build or something.

Oh, ok. I thought I read that that feature was disabled as well . Guess I'll get down to it when I'm able to fix my PS3. Can it back up on to a USB or is it just the internal only?

It was disabled in the homebrew $24 version, however you can easily find instructions on how to turn it back on.

It can back up to both the internal and an external, however for external it's limited to FAT32 for now, so some games don't work because FAT32 has a single-file limit of 4 gigs, and some games have files (usually cinematics or one giant world data file) measuring over 4 gigs, so those don't work on an external.
(The backup loader disassembles the games to back them up and play them, so the concern is NOT the overall TOTAL filesize of the game, but rather if one of the files within the game is over 4 gigs large, which is uncommon, but it's been confirmed for a few games already.)

Just buy an internal harddrive for your PS3. The PS3 will take any laptop SATA harddrive.

Basically they have NAMED the original makers of PSJailbreak, and their BANK ACCOUNT, and all units that have been ordered must be delivered to the lawyers.

There is going to be also damages set for the resellers to pay to Sony for all the trouble, etc.

They have until Sept. 9th to get the units pay for into the hands of the lawyers.

Looks like it will be outright forever ban, but no mention of that.

who cares they were nuts to think they could get away with this in the 1st place! The source is out there anyway it's only a matter of time b4 a FREE solution is made and sony won't stand a chance of banning that. it's payback time sony watch your ps3's future end...the ps3 now belongs to pirates!

But can Sony stop people from selling Blackcat devices on Ebay? -- Or ATMEL from selling their USB development board? -- Or Teensy from selling theirs?

And that brings up another point, what about the software that runs on the board to do the jailbreak? Sony didn't write it, so they have no claim to it.
