Hello all! Have a ps4 pro running 7.55 and exploiting just fine but wanting to upgrade the internal hdd to an ssd

I know when you install the new ssd or hdd you need to install the 7.55 firmware via USB fresh but can you use the ps4 backup utility before installing the new hdd to transfer the data over once the new HDD is installed?

I won’t be going online at all with the console but do have my current ps4 user on it. Will the new ssd and transfer require me to go online at all? Again, don’t intend on going online at all but would like to preserve as much as possible from my current ps4 install.

Thanks for any advise or help!

You can backup the data on the old drive first, then upgrade drive, you need flash recovery file to the newer drive.

Looks like it got burried in that thread. Does anyone know? Anyone able to upgrade their offline only 7.55 internal HDD and transfer over their old stuff? Do you ever need to go online to activate your PSN or anything?

Not to restore legit stuff, don't think fpkg licenses transfer.
So I currently have a ps4 where I uninstalled everything (moved all my legit stuff and save games to my ps5) but still have my PSN account.
Its offline permanently. I installed a bunch of fpkges and use goldhen to run them but interested in upgrading the HDD to an SSD.

What steps can I do to transfer everything or is it pretty much a start from scratch thing?

Thanks!

Export saves, copy and paste trophies, copy games to an external hdd.
I have all the original PKG files and all that just wondering if I could use the backup and restore stuff built into the ps4 to do this and if you need to connect online at all during setting up the new SSD at all.

oh hey man fpkg can be backed up in the same ways encypted pkg can. No it does not ask for psn login on the restore. I wouldn’t do what you are planning to do but it would work.

thanks grabman. Might I ask, why would you not do what I was planning on doing?
