Homebrew Problem with WiiMC

Hey guys, its been a while since I've had to ask a question, but I'm hoping you can help me out...

I just picked up a 4.2U Wii, used ModMii to mod it, and everything works great...with one exception.

When I try to install the WiiMC Channel forwarder, it says Installation Failed. No error Message, no nothing, just Installation Failed.

For the record, through HBC, WiiMC works fantastic, though it doesn't play .mp4 movie files. It will load them, but it plays for literally 1 - 2 seconds and then buffers for 1 - 2 seconds repeatedly throughout an entire movie. Pausing and waiting for the buffer to fill does not work at all.


Does anyone know how to fix either of these issues? Please help me... I am using WiiMC for my kids movies, and I really can't have them poking around in HBC... they WILL do something they shouldn't... that IS a given....

i understand, totally. i went with an older build of wiimc. an when asked to update,i ignore it. you can try that to see if that works. i'm not sure what build i have at the moment. sorry. an the channel works with older one to.

I do have IOS 58 installed. WiiMC itself works fine... no problems except with the .mp4 files...

it's the forwarder channel I cannot get to install. i have the latest version of HBC, I have everything... almost

the forwarder channel won't install, and WiiMC will play .avi files PERFECTLY, but .mp4 files it stutters like crazy, as mentioned in my first post ...

will using an older version of WiiMC really allow me to install the channel as another user said above?

As far as the .mp4 files go, do they contain H.264 encoded video and/or have a high bit-rate and/or resolution? The Wii's hardware will choke decoding H.264 video and HD content. If the video is standard def, or below and is "Xvid" content, then something is wrong.

Question about the forwarder channel installation problem. Do you have an older version installed?

omg yes, I just checked and I had all them set to H264... so, it will play the mp4s as long as it is set to standard def? awesome...


okay... now about the forwarder channel.....?
 
I have two pieces of advice for installing the forwarder. First, when you try and install the wad, with the wad installer, when you have the option, hit right and select Delete channel and then hit A. After it removes the title id and all that, try installing the wad again. If that still doesn't work, try a different version of wad manager. I've experienced similar problems like yours when installing channels, but when I've tried both these solutions, it works every time.

Hey buddy, it didn't work. I tried a couple different lower versions, and no dice. Any other suggestions? I have tried everything on this board so far except streaming. My router doesn't seem to be able to handle it. It's a Linksys wrt160n, and I run 1 laptop, 2 t-mobile sidekicks, an ipod touch, and my wii from it. In any case, streaming results in pretty bad video playback, choppiness, stall, and failure to load. I tried a bunch of different types of video files, and different sizes. So, I'm kind of stuck here. What should I do?

What didn't work? You couldn't install it, or it wouldn't load WiiMC?
