Hacking Preloader - Block online updates

Hi.
I have preloader set to block both disc and online updates but on connecting to the internet in wii settings i was still prompted to perform a system update (obviously i said no) but if i had of said yes would it have got any further?

I did look in wiibrew but it seems to skip over this hack.

i think it blocks you from actually performing the update

It forces a networking error when you try to start the Update.
