I agree, Pokemon was the shit back in (R/B/Y/G/S/C). Though it was still decent during Ruby and Saphire. I never got into the Diamond/Pearl/Platinum though might get into it some day. As for the cartoons, I stopped after Johto. IMHO All pokemon episodes after Johto kind of sucked, though the original (Kanto Region) series was really good. Though I am not an over obsessive "Pokefan".

I'm not the fan I was back then. I play it once in a while. I'm waiting for the new gold and silver games though.

Not a fan of the newer Pokemon where they added a million new species and discovered twenty new continents, but I'm a huge fan of the older Pokemon. Even the anime was fun and entertaining back then.

I'm only a fan of the games however I have a dislike for Ruby/Sapphire due to the fact that evildoers suck (poor excuses for environmentalists/ecoterrorists), the pokemon in the region rock, contests rock, the rest is kinda rushed and poor quality. D/P/P is higher quality and doesn't suck but nothing beats G/S/C and R/G/Y (never played Blue but I played Green).

Verdict on anime

Kanto and Orange Islands: Epic

Johto: One of the best in the series

Hoenn: Meh, Misty who was epic replaced with May (What a poor excuse of a girl), Team Magma and Aqua kinda suck

Shinnoh: Repetitive however Dawn is a much better character than May (Dawn>May), I stopped watching it because of the repetitive nature.

I have the same philosophy. I used to watch the anime when I was like 8 but since then I've stuck to the video games.

I think the video games are pretty cool and the anime holds a nostalgia factor for me having watched it since I was 5 years old (watched the first episode again today and my pikachu was a chubby thing)
