ROM Hack Pocket Card Jockey Savegame Hex Edit

Hey Guys!

I've been searchin' for some form of save editing for Pocket Card Jockey, but couldn't find anuthing for it. So I just opened the Savegame and found how to edit stats of a horse. Hopefully somebody can help further investigate this and get a full guide.

You'll need:
1.- SaveData Filer or something to extract PCJ savegame.
2.- The savegame ( called "gamedata", 16 kb).
3.- Some Hex Edit program (i use HxD).

First, open your "gamedata" with HxD.
Then search for the the decimal value you want to edit. For example, my horse has 89 speed and 89 stamina. Convert those values and search them in the program.

Once you find them, edit to some high number you like. B9, for example.

Note that when you find the values, the text string to the side of it will be the name of the horse. Like this;

In this case the name of the hose was "Super Cute", values of the speed and stamina were B9, wich in decimal are 185.

Thats it. Save and then import back to your 3DS. Open game, Enjoy!.

EDIT:
Found Money Offsets for GROWTH MODE: 00000198 - 00000199 - 0000019A - 0000019B. Edit them to FF FF FF and lots of money for you!

Addresses in the savegame should be static. So simply telling people the addresses should be enough.

I'm sorry about that. I'm not an expert on this subject. If you could point those adresses out for everybody else, that would be great.

As you already found the address seems to be at 0x55E and is 0x2 ( a Half Word ) long.

Have you figured out what the max value for the "Speed" and "Stamina" stats are ?

Also, where money and abilities/perks would be located ?

I've tried, but cant find the values for money (which i thought would be easy) and skills/positioning/abilities (which I'm guessing is a hex value for each one in a particular address).

If anybody can help me find it, that would be great.

First you need to know the values of your horse in decimal. You can see this in game. Lets say your horse is "Fire Boy": 85 stamina, 85 speed.

Now open the savegame, and search for those values, but converted to hexadecimal. To do so, use this site and convert values: http://www.binaryhexconverter.com/decimal-to-hex-converter

So the hexadecimal value of 85 is 55. Search for 55 as hex value in HxD, and to the right panel should appear the name of the horse. Now edit this value to one you want. For example, 200 (which is more tan enough to beat the game). 200 in hex is C8, so write that over the 55.

Now do this with every value you find in the file, as long as the name is in the right panel. Thats it.

As soon as i find out the money and other values i will edit the original post.

Okay, I was able to replace my "Speed" and "Stamina" values to 250 = FA

It appears that there are only 2 slots for the values...how would i update 250 = FA to 999 = 3E7 ?

Thats great! Try using the slot before or after. It might work. IF not, just restore backup.

Also, I've just find out how to change horse type, horse caracteristics and skills. Will make a guide soon.

Still to do: money.

Hmm, I just lost a race then my horse just turned 4 years old...and it's stats returned to normal.

Now it is telling me about "Mature Mode"

Just a heads up. The addresses are definitely not static. My current horse's stats were located at 0x1DA. However, I do thank the OP for giving us a push in the right direction. Now if only I can find my address for money too.

EDIT: I tried searching for the hex of my current money but it doesn't seem to be there in the file. Any help?
