Play Smash 3DS without SD card or update

I have a 3DS XL and a New 2DS XL. I mainly use the 3DS XL and I want to play Smash with my dad without taking the Switch everywhere. We don’t have an extra SD card to use and the 2DS is region changed so I can’t download an update. Both systems are hacked.

You can't download the update from the eShop directly, but you can always get it some other way.

There is a method to access eshop after region changed if two 3ds from the same region were used, but in OP case they can't access if they just did the standard region change.
