i hope they get it running smoother in future versions

but other than that it's pretty awesome.

OK after playing through a few levels I have this to say about the port:

1: I still suck at Tyrian, but it is STILL fun as hell
2: DS controls are great and very responsive, and really enjoy the option to use the touch screen.
3: Yes there is a little bit of slowdown, but for me, in those really frantic scenes, an extra second to think is welcome.
4: Music is still head-thrashingly awesome
5: This would be awesome if you somehow implemented Internet play.

Alright, reloaded the game, retraced my step exactly, and the sound worked this time. I'm a little confused, but yay!

the sound messed up for me too, maybe i should try again

cimi, if you get guru meditation error on startup, you need to make sure the tyrian folder is correctly in the root directory

it is

Fixed mounting (on linux) the microsd with shortname=winnt

Really strange, sadly this game require old format for names.

Man, things like this just add more and more hours onto my DS usage...which isn't a bad thing at all...

I hope there's an option to play unscaled in the future, missing a bit of the top/bottom wouldn't hurt the game too much.

yes Joey I was talking about that and thnx to Urza I didnt know there were a port of DS working on.
But I still love Raptor more!

Omg Tyrian - downloading....

But Raptor would make my wet dreams come true.... I played it to death on my 386DX when I was not playing Xwing (now that would be a nice one to port too.... )

Oh man I remember playing this game when I was a kid, I still got the full version on my old PC such a fun shooter game.

Wow, this homebrew is in commercial quality, but is it just me or do I have to stick my ears to the speakers to enjoy those awesome soundtracks? I have both sound and music volume maxed and it doesn't help.

Good news!!!
This game brings me back in my childhood... that's so great to have one of the best shmup in the history shmup on DS!

thx

Awesome! Loved this game and was saddened when the GBC version was cancelled.

Since everyone was saying it was so awesome, I checked it out. Never heard of this before but I like it!

Oh nertz, I get a Guru Meditation Error when trying to load a save...
It's probably just me, it usually is...XD

The same thing happened to me when I saved after the first level but the saves seem to be taking on subsequent levels. In the load screen see if can load your last level played at the bottom of the loading screen then try to save again when you get to a higher level. Seems like a glitch.

Great game. This is the kind of shooter I have been waiting for on the DS.

great game

been looking for a good top-down shmup for the DS, I was disappointed when I booted up nanostray 2 and it was a side-view

'
But this is really fun, the only problems are:
1) lag. I have quality set to low and it till slows down when there's a bunch of shit onscreen.
2)quiet. It's nearly impossible to hear the music...
3) where the hell is your life meter? I assumed that your shields recharged when you generator did but then I got to the first boss, got hit a lot, and this "WARNING" notice popped up along the bottom (accompanied by an annoying-as-fuck beeping noise) and would not go away until I died. However I did not see any sort of life bar...if that's just how tyrian is, well, that's a bit annoying.
