Thanks. But my primary objective is to play backups. But as you mentioned I can't use it for what I want to use it for. I suppose i'll just either wait for an easier fox or buy a 3DS on a 9.2 firmware or lower now.

You could do that, or find a 3DS on 10.3 then use SafeSysUpdater to downgrade to 9.2 manually. This is a little bit more of a riskier option but I stayed on 10.3 for months until they tried streamlining the downgrade process as much as possible. It was a success for me.
