ROM Hack Question Octolings and Splatnet

Soo... I was wondering... Since Octolings can't be read properly in Splatnet, can you really be banned for using it early via Splathex. I mean how would Nintendo know that you are possibly being an Octoling? I mean thats all I want to change is be an octoling and mind my own business.

Unless it was perhaps a model change you were doing and not changing the save file to make it load....otherwise I think it's pretty much getting on your knees and begging for that sweet sweet ninty ban of denial on your account
if you look back you will see some stories of people getting banned for the octolings back in splatoon 1iirc

Octoling is a "gender" in Splatoon, the verification servers can check the variables value so yes it is possible for them to ban you, but there have been no reports of it yet.

But this should be a little different since Nintendo actually baked this in for players to play this time instead of it being a model change per say

that seems to be do to there being no anti cheat system in place besides user reports in splatnet that bearly anyone knows about. there have been clips of people coming across blatant cheating

ya, and they would have their specific nnids under a whitelist of accounts that can use it. also, they would likely keep it to in house servers rather than the public servers.
