I recently purchased a used Wii U and put Homebrew onto the vWii and updated the firmware to 5.3.2 with Splatoon. I have gotten a little ahead of myself and need some clarification.
Is the only reasoning to have 5.3.2 so that I am able to run backup Wii U games? From what I understand, I have to spoof the firmware on every boot-up to allow backup gameplay? I would like to be able to play the newer games, and online and against other players, is this possible only with a legit 5.5 firmware?
Also, if I were to forgo the ability to have 5.3.2 and updated to 5.5 for online capabilities, would it be safe to run homebrew in vWii with the console disconnected from the internet?
