Hacking Nintendon't and LetterBomb

Hello guys!
My friend wanted to play Wind Waker on his Wii, so I set up his LetterBomb with it loading the Nintendon't loader. He reports it as "loading the Nintendon't loader but giving a DSi Error when clicking on the SD option (Wind Waker is on the same SD card) after loading the Nintendon't background pic but before giving SD/USB option. The folders are set up right (I use Nintendon't on my Wii U) but it doesn't seem to work for him. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

just install HomebrewChannel and load Nintendont from it. And of course intall all the cIOS that are needed to run homebrew

My friend would prefer an unmodded Wii, and IIRC you didn't need cIOS to use Nintendon't?

Yes because cIOS adds the patches to load games/isos and to read USB ports to use them in homebrew
