Stealth Mode prevents you from connecting to Nintendo's servers. You can't play online period with Stealth Mode. If you set up emuNAND (recommended), then you can play your backups on emuNAND (offline only) and boot into sysNAND when you want to play online. Of course, you'll have to legitimately purchase games to play them online.
