REMEMBER: THIS IS ONLY SPECULATION, SO NO RANTING ON HOW IT CAN'T DO THIS OR THAT BUT IF YOU DO WANT TO BE TECHNICAL ABOUT IT, DON'T BE A SMARTASS...

video for reference

I would really hope that you can get steam streaming to work on this if its not already implemented because of the footage of skyrim and nba2k16 (2k17??) in the trailer.... or being able to install like a cyanogen for switch on there.... it would be so awesome!!! is this thing still going to play ds and 3ds games??

You could use it as a tablet... Oh wait, Its a Tablet!
Amazing! And look at that, runs wii very well... No, wait, it's not wii.

Nah, seriously. if anything VC injections of whatever titles they don't put on the eshop for whatever the cause.

Have you guys heard of all the bugs and system crashes the launch release is having? Haven't seen it personally myself since the hawkers inflated the price to nearly double (waiting for it to go back down), but it's my understanding that system wide bugs create openings for injected code. Wouldn't it be interesting if, as a direct result of Nintendo's rushing an unfinished console to market, they created a scenario that makes it possible to fully mod it in a way they can't patch?

Obviously piracy this early would ruin the console, so I really hope that even if it's cracked open the scene waits before making it available, but it would teach Nintendo not to do stuff like this.

My guess: Nintendo wanted to rush this for a Spring release before the next generation Sony or Microsoft consoles could be released, since the power of Nintendo consoles have always been weaker than their competition. They wanted market share and strong game sales before the next gen competition is released to strengthen their position. Even with all these bugs, the strategy will likely pay off UNLESS it gets pirated. This is a huge gamble for Nintendo the way I see it, because using a game cart instead of a CD already creates a huge risk to begin with, since it's much easier to make a hard mod for that type of console.

Speaking of which, I fully expect a product similar to Gateway3DS will eventually appear. It will probably start off as a similar loader, but would eventually have a CFW.
