Hacking Newbie help with DSTT please

I have had a dstt for quite some time and have been happily been playing many games on it.

But I recently have been trying to play the following games and have come up with a problem.

Sonic Classic Collection
Sonic All Star Racing
Zhu Zhu Pets

But they seem to come up with error code 4 after the sav file is created.

I have the latest firmware from the ndstt site 1.17

I have looked on these forums and have found advice saying

A. use v1.17a12
B use ysmenu (what is this)
C update infolib and savlib files
D use wood r4 (what is this)

I am completely lost as to what I do to get these games playing.

A simplyfied answer would be greatly appreciated.

Or Is it time to get a different card (share if I have to because my dstt has been great up till now)

Ok, that wood r4, is for r4 cards, not TTDS..
I got a DSTT too...
the problem with Sonic racing, i got too..
its just because the rom is damaged..
go to the site of DSTT and download the newest patch: HERE
to install the patch, just delete the map called TTMenu(inside your microSD card), and put this map in it.
Also do that with the TTMenu.dat(delete and replace)

so that v1.17a12 is the patch name...
but you just said you got the newest... so just skip that part of the bold sentences

YSMenu is a other menu... to do that(really complicated if you ask me, just did it 4 hrs ago), search on google for a tutorial...
But, it doesnt fix Zhu Zhu and both sonics.

replace these files in your ttmenu folder i think . then it should work

A. use v1.17a12:Download it and install it just same as you do with regular firmware
B use ysmenu (what is this): its an alternative firmware it doesnt do anything to compatability just different look but ignore it if you are used to the regular menu
C update infolib and savlib files: well you really need the extinfo.dat for compatability but you download them from here and replace the ones in the ttmenu folder of the 1.17a12 firmware
D use wood r4 (what is this): Thats for r4 not us

most games work with the DSTT and latest extinfo.dat but if you want better compatability and have some extra money you can buy an acekard

The roms it mentions on this post are they special versions ?

Also is this the correct acekard for my ds lite
