back on topic:

are the wiiware games likely to contain the same DRM that the VC titles currently use? I would expect so as I guess they don't want you sharing the games. What woudl be nice is if they let you play the games on another users Wii, but not save them to another machine. That way you can at least share in the fun of playing the games, but how likely is that to happen?

When I think about the suggest filesize, I see DS-like games on the Wii. You'd have to be pretty good at coding to get anything wii like out of it. They could encourage demosceners to make productions with the finite resources, but I don't see that happening.

From The Magic Box

- Nintendo revealed some new tidbits on WiiWare:

  * Most WiiWare games will have a budget around US$100,000 or less
  * Each game will have a max size of 40MB presently
  * Nintendo pays developers more quickly if the file size is as small as possible
  * Ten WiiWare games are under development
  * Developer can determine the price of WiiWare titles
  * Each developer is allowed to publish only one game per month, the reason is to ensure game quality

Nintendo is pushing small game sizes? Hooray?Â

I really think Nintendo makes some really really stupid choices. If they would have actually added a good amount of space in the wii, then developers wouldn't have to worry about things like this.

Lots of DS games are bigger than 40MB, so I really really worry about how these games will do...

Oh thank god!!!

Yeah...

Dev price + Nintendo profit marging = WiiWare price... eg :

Dev want $2 (why not) + Nintendo want at least $5 Price = $7...

Dev want $7 + Nintendo want $5...but don't want high price... Dev get $4... and nintendo $5... price = $9

Who's fucked... DEV and USER....

and I'll be in both camp soon

Release your game on Nintendo's console, pay Nintendo their due. Don't want to pay the price, release it on.... Popcap?

Now I can predict that if Nintendo makes a Wii 2 it's going to have bigger storage.

Small file sizes... I've seen flash games that's under 5mb and still fun
