  • 17 June 08: Bushing has already announced a workaround after just 6-8 hours of work! Big thanks to all involved! (Note that the workaround is not yet available publicly)

Three months to stop the zelda hack isn't to bad.
Next update will kill homebrew channel and all the hacked VC/WiiWare games.
It's not going to be hard for nintendo to find the homebrew channel "HAXX"

it was a bit more then 3 months at a guess....

the sysmenu build is 3 months old...

this release was compiled in march.....

3months of testing, they really covered there bases making sure it didnt brick wii's etc

Honestly I was kind of waiting for the next update before getting into Wii homebrew stuff, just to see how aggressively Nintendo was going to try and stop it (if at all). I'm actually pretty surprised they've done anything to prevent it!

But anyway, at least now I can make sure to install a few key things before getting around to updating.

Also sorry if this is a dumb question, as I have yet to do anything homebrew related on my Wii... but has all this homebrew/TP hack stuff been accessible to everyone, or just those with modchips?

What's a workaround mean? Does that mean that there going to come out with a new version of the Twilight Hack? Or that there's going to be a save expilot for a different game?

It means what he said it means. There is a workaround. What it is ... who knows? Just patiently wait and see

It's accessible to anyone who has an SD card.

Blah. TAKE THAT NINTENDO!!!!GIVE UP ALREADY!

But this is workaround for the TP hack or for Trucha Signed Discs? Or both?

Anyways

Everyone has had access

its a savegame exploit then relied on a software exploit in the signing process....

they patched the signing exploit but its not an issue now

I'm sure it won't be an exploit for a different game. Probably a new version of the Twilight Hack. Apparently, the security precautions taken by version 3.3 are easy to bypass. I expect the workaround will be available today or tomorrow, but it doesn't really matter if you already have the Homebrew or WAD Installer/Uninstaller channels installed.

No one knows for sure right now, but my guess would be just the Twilight Princess hack. Don't hold me to that.

Ah well that explains why Nintendo decided to crack down on it. If it had only worked for people with modchips they'd probably have let it go! We're such a low percentage of the Wii ownership base! :P

Wow, hackmii.com is now have server error.

TP hack..... not trucha

bushing said earlier that there is a bug in the software which can be employed to ignore the TP verification.

as for the trucha stuff thats a little more complicated,

bushing is still having issues with making a custom boot2 with recovery mode... wont pass verification....

now IOS is an even harder mod, IMO the only solution i can see at hand is removing IOS30 and 31 that are patched and re-installing the old versions

Well,

I have a Wii with WiiFree, and a few games patched to remove the 001 error(Mario Galaxy/SSBB/Mario Kart).

So, if i do the update, those games won't work anymore?
frown.gif

Yes or no?
wacko.gif

answered many times before.... no they wont they rely on trucha

I guess my question is how important is Trucha going to be in the future? Personally I haven't used it for much... maybe Brawl and Kart. Is it something we need besides the benefits of hacking games and making importing certain games easier?

Edit: Beaten lol

According to Wiibrew, bushing has announced a workaround.

BUT.....

I've scoured his site, hackmii, and I have failed to find anything about a workaround.

So, what's going on here. Has a workaround really been announced?
