I played a little bit of it, it seems like it's more of the old Snap, so if you liked that you'll probably like this. The star system is kind of weird though.

I think it’s one for male, one for female, one for one pose, one for a second pose or group…. I’ve only got 1’s and 2’s so far.

As far as I can tell it's literally just the pose. Some poses are worth 1 star, some 2, some 3 and then I think each pokemon has one specific pose that you might have to trigger that's worth 4. It's awkward because you can only choose a photo from a single star category each run though. There's also different colored stars, bronze, silver, gold and diamond. Not entirely sure where the limit for silver and gold is, but a photo worth 4k points or more will get you diamond stars.

I forgot about this game. I just now preordered it along with rtype final 2 (big shmup fan). both come out tomorrow. I'm downloading their nsp as well, and the new monster hunter rise update and the dlc from that. I bought all the dlc yesterday.

I'm hoping it's a yay. My childhood had a blast playing the game(or just hurling apples forever). I'll play a bit after work tomorrow and see if my nostalgia hyped it up too much.

The game has gorgeous graphics. If GameFreak used these Pokémon Models and Animations I would actually believed that they were working on "high fidelity animations"

R type is great (customise ship colour!), it's a bit slow feeling but still lots of fun

Snap was great 20 years ago but ehh.. looks really boring especially since my attention span has deteriorated

I might try rtype later on today. one thing's for sure, when I preloaded the game yesterday, I found the icon to be ugly as hell. I thought it would be a ship or something, but it's just the game's name and it's very dark and hard to read.

This is correct, been playing it a few days now since it leaked early, the stars are related to poses only, gender and color and stuff has nothing to do with it.

As to the game, I'm going back and forth between "This is great!" and "Wow this...is meh" because of how repetitive it gets. The original game was fine for this because you really only had to go back to each level like maybe 3-5 times total depending and there wasn't too much going on, but this game has you going back and back and back and back and back and back and back and back and back and back and back and back and back and back and back so many goddamn times to get a pic of each Pokemon with each rating and such...it just gets to be quite boring. Sometimes you don't necessarily have to do this, but others you can't progress unless you level up a location so you just have to keep going back to find more points, and there's just so many Pokemon in each level that it really gets to be too much sometimes. This could 100% be solved by simply...letting you choose multiple pictures to show after each level, limiting it to one is really a terrible decision for a game with this much "content" in it.

And I'm also very unimpressed with a lot of the graphics, too. Models and stuff look quite good close up, but you're going to see a lot of textures that straight up look like they'd belong in an N64 game, and photo "previews" are super low resolution when choosing pictures to show to the prof which is honestly a bit disappointing. Models also have a much lower FPS in the background which is kind of gross to look at, TBH.

Official Tom Review should be up today or tomorrow though, so keep an eye out for that ;O;
