Hacking New NTSC Wii (D2C)?

Sorry for asking a question that I believe I already know the answer for, but the search doesn't like D2C (minimum of 4 characters).

Anyway, I just want to confirm that if I purchase a new Wii today (I am), that it will have the D2C chipset and more importantly, that still can't be modded correct?

Side question, can you just swap out the drive with an older one an mod that?

I'd bet money you could. There seem to be threads about that everywhere, this will all just push demand for old drives up. I swap drives on my Gamecubes as needed due to POT issues. They plug right in, the Wii should too. I'm wary of buying a used Wii due to always seeing those yellow LEDs glowing burning out the GPU. Now if I could swap drives after knocking out the owner...why won't people trade their Wiis with me? They get suspicious but have no interest in modding.

Yes, the drives are interchangeable. I've done it twice already.

yeah theres a 70-80% chance you'll get a d2c i think
look on craigslist for an older used one..you may even find a modded one already

Yea of course, there is too much business for the hackers to leave it unmodded

Hopefully they release a REAL wii modchip that allows for proper homebrew ect. as currently its just that GC hack.

BTW yes the drives are interchangable, I have done it tons of times without a problem
