Found out something interesting the other day at Walmart when I asked about how much stock they're provided for the mini consoles. For reference this is at a Walmart in Spearfish South Dakota, pop 10,000 (but this is a college town so numbers are going to be a bit higher).
They said that for the nes classic mini they received 5-6 units in total, and 8 people showed up for the midnight launch (though that's not counting people who left after realizing there wouldn't be enough for them.
By contrast, they received 30-33 Snes minis, and there were around 40 people there for the midnight launch.
Both times people were limited to one per customer
So Nintendo did seem to step up the amount they shipped, however it's still not nearly enough, especially for most people who buy things off store shelves weeks after they come out.
Anyone else that has stock info for your stores, feel free to share it.
