Xenoblade is great as is Yokai Watch. While Yokai Watch is very much inspired by Pokemon I feel like it has enough of its own thing going that it's worth playing.

If you're gonna give the Zelda games a shot A Link Between Worlds has been great so far though I'm not very far in. Also recently started Legend of Legacy which is promising so far.

Some good suggestions here, i'm picking my 3DS up in a few days.. I want some games out of the usual 1st party stuff.

What is the best pokemon game that has the original 151 pokemon? I'm not really clued on Pokemon past that.

I think most I would recommend was already recommended, so I will have to add some description to make it seem I made some effort:

Project Mirai DX . (Sorry, personal agenda). Good rhythm games make you feel kind of high when you play them well, or perhaps it was the pain killer overdose when trying to get an S+ on Matryoska Superhard. Oh, my fingers.

Fire Emblem Awakening (and perhaps Fates, I still haven’t played enough to tell). Well, you already know the game so I won't give further reasons.

Any and all Shin Megami Tensei:
  • SMT4 is more like a beautiful dungeon crawler meets Pokemon and demons (well, actually Megaten is monster collection before Pokemon, but…). I really loved SMT Strange Journey for the NDS, and if you happened to play that (or well many other SMT titles) you know what to expect. Nice game, a lot of demons and fusions, dungeon crawler, turn based, great battle system, buffs and debuffs are meaningful and part of you battle strategy, etc.
  • SMT Devil Survivors are like Fire Emblem meets Pokemon. Kind of. Easy explanation because I am lazy, don’t throw rocks at me. They keep the turn based combat with demon fusion and collection at the core of the gameplay, but also add strategy rpg elements. The dungeon crawling elements are gone.
If you like hard and somewhat frustrating games any and all Etrian Odyssey. They are beautiful and frustratingly hard dungeon crawlers, but this description may apply better to the NDS versions of the games. The remakes for 3DS also have a predefined, JRPG like story.

Zelda A link between worlds (also OOT, but I love ALBW and it is not recommended enough in this thread). Classic 2D Zelda gameplay with a twist. If you like 2D Zelda, you will love this.

Bravely Defaults. Did you love Final Fantasy 5? You will love this. Nice story (mostly, I think it doesn't feel as epic as it should), nice characters, beautiful job based battle system with a twist.

Tales of the Abyss. A classic from the PS2 era. If you like the Tales battle systems you should like this. For some reason I don't like the story so much, and I prefer Tales of Symphonia any day, but this is also a very good game.

Rune Factory 4. Masterpiece. I believe. Hmmm.... I ran out of ideas how to describe games, but look for it. It is good. It is a very special Action RPG type of game.

Yes! Finally a reason to shamelessly plug my favorite games! Here's my list!
SMT, All of them. I suggest first playing Devil Survivor though, since it's amazing! And it was the game that got me into the series on the DS.
If you like the Pokemon games and what something new, Super Mystery Dungeon is great. It's a little lite hearted compared to the DS games, but is better than Gates.
Persona Q because reasons
Stella Glow, if you basically want a visual novel with some pretty fun gameplay.
Bravely Default, it's basically FF3, in all the best ways.
Ace Attorney Trilogy if you haven't played the DS versions, if you have, then play 5
Animal Crossing New Leaf because it fills time
Dementium Remastered: It's actually a pretty good horror FPS adventure game.
Shovel Knight because it's a dead horse worth beating
All the Zelda games because obvious.

to all who replied to this thread- i have made up my mind about the kind of games i wanna play-
i want games like fire emblem with a great story etc. (bravely default and shin megami tensei would be good?)
i want a game not at all like mario, kirby or zelda. i hate the zelda series (IMO)
I love pokemon and i have played all the games, including the mystery dungeon ones. (no yo kai watch pls!)
Any more suggestions are the most welcome.
So anyone who can tell me games that can cater to my needs?
Thanks to all who have replied and thanks to all who will reply!
