Hacking Need Help with 4.2 update

I need some help.
I have version 3.4E and I followed this guide:

...to install Homebrew Channel and USB Loader GX.

Now, I would like to install 4.2. I already found this:

...but I don't know if I need to do anything before.
I will do a Nand backup with BootMii, which I haven't done yet.
Is there anything else I have to do before and after the update?

But it tells to update and then isntall homebrew channel, etc.
I have already installed everything, I just want to update without bricking.

What are you suggesting?
To use the official update and then do everything again?
I think I can just use the unofficial updater.
