There are other NAND cards that are not N-card clones so your topic name is kind of confusing. But yeah, FFIV did not work because it got DLDI patched while it's not homebrew. So that's the DLDI conflict they're talking about. Disabling DLDI made FFIV work but disabled homebrew (if you hadn't DLDI patched it yourself, which is likely).

Edit: I see, so the N in N-card stands for NAND. Well, regardless, people know it as the N-card so it's still confusing.

Yer, confusing topic, I thought it was somethign of interest to me.
Just out of interest (inb4 paradox), why was the loader attempting to DLDI patch FFIV?

How do you upgrade, drag and drop? or do you have to run autorun1.nds?

I know that devs put a certain string in their games. This string tells the DLDI patcher where to put the patch info. The FFIV had that string(either by accident or design) so the game was being corrupted.

And I think that it is drag and drop. Just try it! You can;t brick your card by replacing the xmenu.

I don't think FFIV has that string, because the check is to see if the gamecode is "####".
I think it's more like a an internal bug of their patcher.

That not what I mean.
I mean that in the games ROM code there is a section of code that actiates DLDI.

For EXAMPLE(Only example, this is not how it works.)
In the code there is 100011110011010100101010
say that tells the DLDI where to place the patch.
If FFIV has the code in it, the patcher will patch it, thus corrupting the ROM.

Even tough making a dldi patch of something not being an homebrew is stupid... come on instead of
dldi_patch(); you do if (game_code == "####") dldi_patch; ...

But SNEmulDS has the gamecode of SNDS. If DLDI used your method, it would not get patched.

tried the new xmenu.dat on DS Fire card, and can confirm that FFIV now works on at least this N-Card clone
