Hardware N3ds XL hinge lose?

The hinge on my N3ds XL is different from my GFs MMN3DS XL. It clacks louder and its much more wobbly. I was wondering if i were to take it to the repair centre in Nintendo, if they would update my firmware? Cause Id prefer if they didnt

Yes Nintendo will update your firmware. Do you both have different screens? There's two different screens for the N3DS, one with scan-lines and one without to make telling the difference the easiest. This could be the cause for the difference.

the hinges are designed to be a bit wobbly. the ones that don't are actually the defects although I prefer them as well. when you send in any console you are shipped back a different one which is always fully updated.

My n3dsXL hinge is wobbly too. It's annoying and I'd rather had a fixed hinge, but you will get used to it.

Regardless, the scan-lines are the easiest way to tell what kind of screen you have on your N3DS.
