MTP With OSX

Nothing to do with the brand of the card, beside you need to h2testw the card before even putting it to any use. You do have a higher chance of data corruption on the switch using exFAT due to the switch exFAT driver, also it make no sense since all the switch installed data are under 4GB, so there is no need of using exFAT. I have a stock switch that I kept on FAT32.
If there was a problem with the driver, Nintendo would have fixed it long ago. They always fix anything critical like that.

We also don't know the quality of the cards people are using, but I always go for the name-brand top-shelf cards. They're cheap enough to warrant not saving 3 cents on a cheaper brand.
It’s happened to me while installing games normally with awoo as well

I only use sandisk cards since Best Buy sends me coupons

It’s really just down to a matter of shitty luck during the write process it seems. If a write process gets interrupted you’re fucked

Does Nintendo let you use FAT32 for big cards? My stock one has a 128GB card and my Switch asked to format it before use.

you have to use third party tool to format to FAT32, no point of exfat when you can do everything on FAT32

Wrong. They're already using they own journalized file system above any fat/exfat FS of the microSD card, so they really don't care about any unstables of exfat corruptions which exists on the Switch.

But, any homebrew (AMS included) of course don't know nothing about HOS FS, so exFAT always corrupts Nintendo Switch.

Just use FAT32, and everything will be OK.

Why do they use the inferior MTP, instead of native USB storage access?
because using USB mass storage requires unmounting the volume from the system to expose it as a mass storage volume, and is also very much prone to filesystem corruption if something goes wrong during writing to it since it litterally exposes the filesystem. MTP exposes the storage with a much higher level of abstraction (as objects, agnostic of the underlying filesystem type) and in theory is a way more elegant solution. The issue you ask ? Shitty implementations. And also, MTP inherent limitations. Look it up on wikipedia.
I don't understand why phone manufacturers couldn't come up with a more modern and robust alternative... Oh but I do actually: so they could hook you onto a cloud storage subscription instead (thanks apple and google).

MTP is slow as hot garbage, even on modern phones. I hate it so much.

I hope you are using other MTP connector than DBI, because dbi not supported on mac os.
It rey. I copy files with MTP DBI and macOS with a externas tool used for android mobile.

Dont forget exit Preview App, some time it block recognize mtp. Its strange but it happens

If you have problem exit every app and the run OMTP again

Yeah, I'll second OpenMTP. I've used it with both the Switch and the Ayn Thor. I wouldn't say its 100% perfect or anything but it fit my needs when I couldn't be bothered to do anything else.
