Hacking Mortal Kombat DLC?

Okay so I know nothing about the PS3 hack scene but my roommate has a PS3 and I'm considering getting into it for various reasons. SO, having said that, I have a random question. Would I be able to download some Mortal Kombat DLC (ie. new characters) through softmodding the PS3?

PSN games, and online content purchased through the PSN store cannot be achieved with a soft-modded PS3 - i.e. there is no place to download them and stick then on a HDD or a USB and then copy paste therm over - doesn't work like that.

Only way is to go online and buy them thus rendering your softmod useless.

EDIT: This does not seem to be the case with Mortal Kombat DLC though - the only case so it seems.

You only need a CFW'd PS3 and your more or less good to go.

Quite odd, for i haven't seen this before, just download and install the PKG and your good to go ?

Also from my knowledge DLC is region locked to the the region of the game, so will i have any problems with that ?

It is just simple .pkg install. And there is packs for PAL and NTSC released.

Thanks guys, that's good to hear! If anybody wants to go a step further and direct me on what to do with my completely unmodded PS3 now that would be great. Otherwise I'll just jump around the forum for a while until I figure it out.
