So ive been reading up on all this wii hacking stuff and i found that i dont have to chip my wii to have some fun. So what exactly can i do/not do without soldering my wii at all? i have no time and no soldering skill so im limited to softmods. and from what i read i can still do quite a bit. so whats up? tell me what i can do with just softmods and what i cant. thanks.

You can use or play with anything found here, you can play downloaded vc games, or downloaded wiiware games with the help of the wad manager, and you can, somewhat, play backups (for wii only, gamecube backups arent working as far as I know).

By somewhat, I mean that the games are slow (loading wise), cutscenes often don't work, online doesn't work, and some games refuse to boot.

If you want to play copied games then your best bet is to get a chip. You can get something called the Wii-Clip that you clip onto a chip inside your Wii. No soldering at all. They will always be better than backup-launchers because they will never work 100%.

Ok. im down with just wiiware and vc. thats what i like anyway. most of the actual marketed wii games are crap anyway and im not worried about buying one here and there.

and the wii clip? coolio. good to know.
