Hacking Modding an Outdated o3DS

Hello,

I am trying to mod an o3DS running 7.1.0-4U. When I bought it, it was on FW 2.2.0-U4, but I realized I cannot install easily install CFW with this FW.
So I grabbed a random 3DS cartridge I had laying around, and updated it. Then I read the cart updates don't update the Sounds App, so I can't use SoundHax...

To reiterate, I have a 3DS running 7.1.0-4U, but with the 2.2.0 Sound app.

I do have a second o3DS with CFW running 11.9.0-42U. Is there anyway I can use this modded 3DS to mod the stock one? I'm not really sure what else to do to get CFW on this thing.

PS: I've been in the modding scene a long time, and I find it so strange that you would want to AVOID older 3DS because exploits won't work. Just thought that was pretty funny.

OK all you need to do is connect the 3ds to WiFi then update the 3ds to latest firmware. Then follow this guide https://3ds.hacks.guide/seedminer

I considered this as an option, but all I have is a laptop. It says I need a powerful PC with decent graphics card. Not sure if it can be done, but I will try it.

I tried this on 2.2.0. When I go to the 2xrsa website, it says "loading arm9.bin", and then the bottom screen glitches and never continues. I've read posts where people say to press select and it will work, but nothing happened for me.

A browser based exploit is not working
Browser based exploits (such as browserhax or 2xrsa) are often unstable and crash frequently, but they can sometimes be fixed by doing the following steps.

1. Launch the browser, then launch the browser settings
2. Scroll to the bottom and Initialize Savedata (it also may be called Clear All Save Data)
3. Try the exploit again

try this, if not do what @AmandaRose said do Seedminer since you got a Frankenstein firmware, I got a frankenstein firmware in the past, a rare Eevee 3DS , got lucky that Browser Hax work.
