I am just curious about my Wii...

When I bought it, the store clerk gave me free pirated CDs...
Almost all of the games run on the Wii...

I'm just curious how can my Wii do that?
The store clerk never mentioned it has a modchip...
And the free CDs cannot be read by my DVD drive in my PC...

And another quetion...
One of the free CD is Super Mario Galaxy
And when I try to run it, it will load and shows this error:

An error has occured.
Press the Eject Button, remove the
Game Disc, and turn the power off.
Please read Wii Operations Manual
for more information.

What could the problem be?

So let me understand this.

You bought a Wii... at a retail shop... that was modded?

What kind of shop was this?

And the clerk handed out copies of games?

Huh?

its premodded, did you buy at greenhills?

I was leading up to that. You have an older MOD that doesn't have the necessary code to play the latest games such as:

Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Mario Kart
etc.

You'll need to give us more information about the chip.

If you HONESTLY haven't opened the machine, unfortunately you're going to have to.

@jan777
What do you mean by premodded? it has a modchip already installed?
No mine did not came from greenhills...
But in Philippines though....

They told me it was modified, but i still don't have a clue
whether it has a modchip or not...

EDIT: I haven't tried yet running a burned ISO w/o the back-up loader though...
I'll try it after downloading an iso...

@air2004
I am really just curious about my Wii
Sorry if it looked like that I just made that story to ask about the Mario Galaxy error...
I only included my question here so I won't create another topic...

It's more than likely that your Wii has a physical modchip.

Go right now and put one of the "pirated" discs in and see if it boots by itself without the bootloader - or do they all have the bootloader burnt onto them?

You'll likely have to pull an ISO to really find out one way or the other.

But the bad news is that whoever modded your unit used an old chip. Is it upgradeable? Not certain, but probably NOT.

That means you'd need a new modchip to play newer games.

it is premodded = they took the liberty to install a physical modchip in your wii before you buy it.

those games may not work because maybe they were badly burned pirated games

try buying from good pirate sources like greenhills

yeah you can boot backups without the backuploader
