Nowadays? I can't remember the last time a Disney movie hasn't been "tame"; Treasure Planet maybe? Everything since has been vanilla.

So apparently the project was supposed to be a show on Disney+ but they decided to rework it into a movie and release it theatrically.

Sooo... it's gonna suck.

I don't quite get why Disney want to do a live action version of the first film whilst still working on a sequel. Feels a bit discordant.

Went to watch it this Sunday. It's pretty nice actually.

You can really tell it was supposed to be at least a miniseries, the pacing is a bit wonky, and some scenes are clearly missing bits and could be expanded. But they left all the songs. All of them. Too many songs. Luckily they left all the gags too. They are pretty inobtrusive and well timed (none of the Marvel style bullshit) but constant. So it's mostly songs and jokes.

There are a few emotional moments. When the coconut went 'clop clop-clop clop' there wasn't a dry eye left in the theater.

Anyway, i enjoyed it .
