So I'm playing Pokémon FireRed on my DSTWO. I noticed that when my Pokémon is poisoned, there's only an audio effect. There was no visual effect on the DSTWO, and I was pretty sure there was supposed to be a visual effect. I tried the game on VBA, and I noticed a pixelation effect that goes with the sound effect. It bothers me that the effect is missing in the DSTWO's emulator, as I usually forget that a Pokémon's poisoned (when I play muted).

I'm wondering: Should they update the emulator to support effects like this? Should I make a big deal out of this? Are there any other missing effects in other games that you've noticed?

Thank you for your time.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I thought it was the Fast Motion thing, but when I turned it off and encountered it again, there was no visual effect for being poisoned.

ONE of my Pokémon died because of that! I demand 1 Pokémon in return!

EDIT: It really isn't a big deal. I guess from now on you gotta pay attention to your Pokémon 70% of the time.

A very small detail tbh
I mean if all games worked and small effects like this happened or didn't happen, I'd be very happy at the least lol

I've noticed this too, in Emerald. Also, sometimes when someone uses smokescreen the smoke doesn't show up, but other times it does, kinda weird. There are a few other moves like that too.

Oh, I noticed the smokescreen issue too.

BTW, what kind of screen effect happens in Emerald when a Pokemon is poisoned?
EDIT: Checked myself (on real GBA hardware), seems to be a similar but different pixelation effect.

EDIT2: Oh, you're talking about status effects. Yeah I see them, but they look kinda weird due to frameskip (the reason why I always try to set the emulator to 0 frameskip).

No, i wasn't talking about the lines of blue/red going up/down during the status effect, i was talking about things that are transparent or something, such as mist and smokescreen.

On my DSTWO during battle the pokemon just turn purple and shake a little, with that annoying poison sound effect. However the screen doesn't shake during each HP lost outside of battle (as someone else pointed out), only the sound as made.

PS after playing it (pokemon Emerald) for like an hour the music starts to mess up, and the background part of the music starts to play later then the main part. It sounds really weird and just gets worse the longer I play, so I usually just reload the game again and the music works find.
