I'm trying to make a LayeredFS plugin that replaces the music in Miitopia, and having some difficulty.

In romfs:/cmn/sound/stream there are the .bcstm files for the music. I used YATA+ to convert the .wav files I wanted into the .bcstm files, and renamed them to the right file name.

Then, I moved them to my 3DS's SD:/Luma/titles/[titleid]/romfs/cmn/sound/stream folder.

When I load the game, and load the battle (I replaced battle music) the game crashes.

My replacement is smaller than the original .bcstm so it's not a case of an oversized file. Does it have to be the exact same size or am I doing something wrong?

I'm actually not sure how to do that. This is my first time dabbling in game modding. Could you tell me how to do that please?
Ok.
First, you should install foobar2000 and the component to play bcstm files.
Then, play your bcstm file and look at the bottom of the window. You may see some details of sound data you are playing.
Now, you can know the bcstm has multi-channel or not.

Also check my signature. I hope it can help you.
Thank you.
Good luck.

There's a few, but to start off with I'm trying to do BGM_BATTLE_RARE.bcstm

That song is 4 channels. You might wanna replace 1 song at a time to start. But yeah, you can use @saburou link in their signature to make the multi-channel song. You can just have 2 silent tracks for channels 3 and 4.
