dd fails to image the disk? Then you have a serious problem... try http://wiki.linuxquestions.org/wiki/Dd_rescue

EDIT: nvm, I set it at if=sdb, of=sdb, silly.
dev/null>dev/sdb won't work
So you know, I couldn't care less about the data, just the card.

its possible your reader is dead. thats what happened to me. I can use my 4gb microsd hc just fine in my nds with m3ds real adapter. I just bought a new adapter and it worked fine, my old adapter just kept asking to format the card, even tho it didnt really need to be formated as the card was just fine.

I think he said he tried it in two adapters (cyclo and plain SD adapter) in earlier posts.

It does actually sound like a reader problem now...

apart from the fact that homebrew occasionally fails to read data...


I don't like to call MicroSDs "dead," as flash memory is very resilient, but I've never seen a card behave like that. Sorry I couln't help you more.

Actually Cyclo and plain microSDHC, but same idea.

Well, if that's the case then I think I've got a 128MB lying around. No good for anything, really, but I could test the reader...
Hold on, I think I'm onto something... I managed to delete everything from the card, CycloDS folder mainly. And I booted up my Cyclo. It said:

MicroSD card is not formatted with FAT16 or FAT32. Please format the MicroSD card before using with CycloDS Evolution

However, the files were NOT written to the microSDHC.
I think this problem might be with my PC:

With another machine I somehow managed to reformat it... But... It's STILL read-only!
BTW: why isn't the post-merger on?
It will let my cyclo write, but not my PC...

Problem solved: My PC is really screwed up!
I was able to mount and write with my other machine.
