Emulation Homebrew melonDS for Switch — continuation part 2

I'll fix it in the next release

My mistake, I realized that error cases are not properly handled in the notifications during login. I have already fixed it, in the next release you should eventually see the error (now is only showed in console, using nxllink). Consider though that if you don't appear in the leaderboard, there is some problem during login. I apologize for the inconvenience, as soon as I know more I will fix it as soon as possible

I can try, I was thinking about something like this. Atm I only added hold/press once for fastforwarding as requested
Hey thanks so much, don't worry about my issue I was just being stupid and not using the right version of a ROM that retro achievements supports, but hey... I was wondering if maybe you'd be interested in also fixing some things with duckstation that were never resolved like rumble and retro achievement support if not that's totally fine

Don't worry, there are stupid solutions but not stupid problems. Indeed, with your problem you pointed out to me that the notification did not appear in all cases. You were right to point it out to me. As for duckstation it depends, actually I have always used the one provided by retroarch core and not the stand alone one, I have always been fine with it. In the future (once most of the features I have in mind are implemented) I'd like to try to work on the dolphin port, but in this case I really wouldn't know how feasible it is, since those who have tried have always given up

Congratulations for the project, having this emulator updated with support for retroachievements is perfect!

Would it be possible to create an option in the emulator to create forwarders for each game, just like in Retroarch?

There is already: use a forwarder (you can find one online, or NTON), point the new nro and the rom you want. This is a feature implemented by jpe, should work with newest version

Using the NSP Forwarder Generator, there is only one field for the NRO, should I put the path of the melonDS.nro and the ROM all in the same field?

For example, these are the paths of the emulator and the ROM:
“/switch/melonDS.nro”
“/roms/nds/Pokemon SoulSilver.nds”

So in the NRO Path field I should put:
“/switch/melonDS.nro /roms/nds/Pokemon SoulSilver.nds”

Is that it?

Ignore the message above, I've solved it! 😅

For those who want to know, just use the option to create a Forwarder for Retroarch.
In the Core Path field put the MelonDS path and in the ROM path put the game ROM path

Now the two things I like most about Retroarch are possible in MelonDS, the forwarders and Retroachievements. 💖
I'm looking forward to the moment when Hardcore mode is released

Hello everyone, I don't know anything about developing software, just understand english not speak (excuse my bad english), I'm just asking , would it be so dificult to port this proyect like a retroarch's core?

Probably, if someone had enough interest and time but why bother.... This is BETTER than Retroarch.

The hardest part about porting to retroarch is dealing with retroarch and their strict standards and annoying process/gatekeeping. Its not exactly the most welcoming community

There is a reason a lot of retroarch cores fall out of date once you move past PC/android/linux

Just tested this. Looks amazing.

Bejeweled 3 - Slow, but looks great
NSMB - When it Boots, it seems perfect. Then you get Slowdowns. Hidden Areas, depending on the Detail, runs great.
Ultimate Mortal Kombat - Profile Select is a bit fast, In-Game runs great, with some Slowdowns at times, however the App Crashed. Not sure if it was the App, or the Game. Will test more later.

do you have enabled JIT?

Enable JIT Recompiler? Has a X by it so no. Enable to test how it is?

Think I know what happened for UMK - When I tried to do a Fatality, I was hitting the wrong Buttons. I was hitting the ZL and ZR Buttons, thinking Run, Block, Run, Run, HK for Smoke

OK.....nevermind. I guess when it gets to Finish Him-Her, you start doing the Button Input...Crash

Last edited by Smoker1,
The last time I tried MelonDS on Switch, it was choppy and ran Pokemon HeartGold like absolute ass.

Has it gotten better since then?
Not this fork but on the previous that this continues

I was able to play all of the Pokemon games to completion, even with a 90 rotation and a 3d printed adapter

They where even fine with swapping between fast forward and normal speed

So it might be worth trying again
