Hacking Luma3ds mario party star rush multiplayer

Hi guys, I am using luma3ds 3ds with a mario party star rush eur cia, my girlfriend has a Canadian 3ds and we are trying to play multiplayer. We've tried download play and the guest pass but neither works. (Download play says no software found and guest pass finds no lobby) and help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the replies I did try changing its region with the locales folder thing but guessing it didn't/doesn't work. I'll give the patch a try but if anyone has any other solutions let me know ( can't seem to find a na star rush)

I'm guessing your girlfriend hasn't got the CFW installed?

Yeah try the patch. It does work. Tried it with a Japanese game on an EUR 3DS

Wouldn't he need to get an NA cia of the game since his gf is using a Canadian 3ds / copy of the game? I'm also interested in cross region multiplayer.

In most ways yes but in situations such as this no, patching the region checker would work

Just out of curiosity, how do I patch it, the link doesn't seem to offer any patch just a discussion and some computer language stuff, I'm a noob lol

It should be in the LUMA3DS loading options so when you hold select on boot

All jokes aside, you can easily acquire a copy of the USA version of the game, transfer your save over and save yourself a lot of hustle.
