I am having the same exact same issue. I left my console for some months and when i booted up, went to update lumia. Everything @digimpip75 describe happened exactly the same to me. I dont think i will get the tools to be able to get a hardmod. Is there any other solutions, maybe now, that allows me to either play on the gateway or install luma correctly?
What kind of system do you have (O3DS or N3DS) and did you boot Gateway while using SysNAND on a firmware over 11.3? If you're on an O3DS you're not bricked, but you've lost your CFW. If you have a N3DS booting Gateway above 11.3+ will brick your device.

What firmware is your console on? And does it boot normally without using Gateway mode?

I have O3DS it is not bricked since i can play cartridge games normally. The system version it shows (i guess is sysnand since luma does not use emunand rigth?) Is 11.3.0-36U. I tried to boot into gateway mode and the first time it freezed at the dragon and after that some black screens and now no shortcuts work on start (i believe i had godmode as well). When opening either luma updater or homebrew channrl a popup says the software could not be launched and to downloaded again from the eshop.

Launching Gateway mode on an O3DS will usually just blackscreen or remove hacks.
Luma CAN use an EmuNAND if you have one, yes. However, it's Gateway itself that doesn't work above 11.2 because the devs are lazy.
If I were you I would just ditch Gateway altogether at least until they update their stuff. There IS a way to make it work again but you need to create and EmuNAND then downgrade it to 11.2.
I would suggest installing Boot9Strap by following the guide : http://3ds.guide/
However, Boot9Strap requires special steps to use with Gateway (As does everything these days since it's 2 firms outdated)

I tried to keep gateway on the loop since it is comfortable, but i knew i had to retire it at some point. Guess this is it since they dont update their firmware. I think i followed that guide last time. Having the luma hombebrew and fbi apps not working would not have any issue while following this guide right? Thanks for the replies

It shouldn't no. Do me a favor and let me know what version of Luma you're using. Then you'll know how it's being run.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

And yeah even if you followed it last time, it's been updated. So if you're using A9LH you need to move to Boot9Strap by following this section of the guide: https://3ds.guide/a9lh-to-b9s

How do i tell? Since i cant open the luma app. I think i am most likely using a9lh since i did this last december.

Luma is not an app on your HomeMenu. It's the sig patches that are automatically loaded when you power on your console.
Hold select, then press power. The Luma config menu should pop up with the version you're using.
You still have a sysnand/emunand, or are you saying you can't get to your HomeMenu at all?

Luma is not working at all i think i lost it. Holding select and then power it gets me directly to the home menu.
