Michoko has sent word that v1.0 of Lone Wolf DS has been released. For those that missed it Lone Wolf is a series of choose your own adventure type books, you may have previously seen them as the bundled title with the Hyena audiobook player.

2008/03/09: Version 1.0
- Fixed a nasty bug that was not flushing inventory correctly when you were restarting a new game,
causing various strange behaviours when trying to pick items (thanks Raion!)
- Fixed a bug causing Gold to increase regularly, and limited the number of crowns to 50.
- Fixed a loading saved game bug which was not restoring all events properly (thanks Kirsty!).
- Fixed several sections events
- Smoothed and improved map scrolling using the stylus.
- Fixed a bug where "Previous/Next" buttons were staying in black & white after dying.
- You can't no longer pick/unpick the "Weaponskill" discipline and roll a random number each time.
- You can't drop and lose the map now.
- Various other small fixes and improvements.

That is the BEST Homebrew Game ive played... unfortunatly i saw the ending too fast and looking forward to the next adventure.

This homebrew is really brilliant! Too bad the original story is very short if you do the good choices but it's nice to try and see every possibilities.
I'm looking forward for the next book.

I hope they bundle all the books into one file or allow you to continue to story with the same stats as when you ended the previous book. I enjoyed it, but it can be completed in about an hour.

Amazing! The release of the source of this could be amazing for porting (what an odd word to be using) other "choose your own adveture" (namely Steve Jackson/Ian Livingstone) books. I say source release because those books are still copyrighted and this guy'd get into trouble (potentially) for re-making them.

Alastair the hyena app supports a fairly simple file format (text based these days or some xml madness before) if you really wanted.

Also http://www.ffproject.com/ , no idea how good it is as well I had never heard of it prior to 2 minutes ago.

Sounds pretty sweet, I used to love these adventure books when I was younger, I might give this a whirl.

I am thankful that I can say I still have all my toys from when I was younger. I have a full set of the lone wolf books in mint condition. I'm looking forwarding to see if they are all transfered into the NDS.

I can confirm that this does not run on the M3 Lite. I tested using both M3 SD DLDI patches, a patch for the R4 (my passme), and no patch with no postive results. The homebrew simply does not load, only two black screens appear. I have even tried to launch from inside of moonshell (the only way to launch PocketPhysics and C|irc on the M3 Lite) and came to the same failed results.

It will however run fine on my Slot1 R4 with no issues.

Those Steve Jackon/Ian Livingstone books were the ones I was referring to from when I was younger!

They were great books, I must have read them all multiple times.

My favourite one was one where you got to pilot mechs and you could find new ones.

Damn! I finished this too quickly! So much fun!
I reeeallly look forward to the next installment.
I might have to donate some money.

I adore them haha. I must say that I liked the fantastic, mediæval-type ones over the futuristic ones.
City Of Thieves, Forest Of Doom - WOW!

This game looks brilliant, except it wont run on my R4 or any emulators, i just get two black screens, does anyone else get this problem, if so pleas help me!

it runs fine on the r4, make sure you dldi patch it. i'm in the process of running test builds for the author trying to get it to run on the m3 lite. i got to play with test builds because i mentioned to him that it only runs for me on the r4 =P.

dbl check you patched it correctly.

I've got all the Magnakai and Grand Kai books (the Kai series was just a taste of things to come). After that it just got a bit too... er, MGS2-like for me

The one where you had to rescue Grandmaster Wolf was nice, though. But damn, the books sure got bulky by then!!

Hi!

A new version (1.1) is now available, and should fix the compatibility problems with M3 Real and G6 linkers (and maybe others!).

Code:
Changelog:
2008/03/22: Version 1.1
- LoneWolfDS should now work properly on M3 Real and G6 linkers (many thanks to all the testers!)
- Fixed a small issue on section #33 were gold was not increased properly.

On a side note, LoneWolfDS has now officially entered the NeoFlash Competition 2008! So if you want to support this project or just
check all the great entries, click here: http://www.neoflash.com/forum/index.php/board,98.0.html

Have fun!
Michoko
