Hi,

is it possible to load VC games from the SD card without installing the wad/vc file? this way we can save some blocks on the wii
some kind of loading tool in HBC?

Yeah just be sure to stick your penis in the SD Card slot first and say "allah akbar"

Pointless with the new DVD read exploit.
Not to mention it'd still be pointless without it, as Wii can only use SD and not SDHC

1. there's people without mod-chips
2. a 1gb sd card has over 7000 blocks while the wii has only a little over 2000 blocks. thats more then triple the memory that the wii has.

I've never heard of 1024MB being triple 512MB... but then again, I went to public school...

Yes, i know you don't get to use all 512MB of the Wii's memory due to the Firmware (IOS, system files, various settings = Firmware)

But saying that a 1gig (1024mbytes) is triple that of the Wii is just plain wrong!

He made his comparison in"blocks" not MB's,no idea if that makes a difference though, cant be arsed checking either!!!

If you're looking to just play classic games from older consoles (NES, SNES, etc.), I'd recommend to just go ahead and get an emulator for the system you're looking for.

I'm running SNES9x gx and FCEUltra.

They both load ROMs from the SD card, so essentially, it's the better choice.

But then again, it's up to you.

Nintendo told me that only about 256MB of the internal memory is useable. Therefore it makes perfect sense, and it's actually quadruple if you consider the useable space of the Wii memory to be 256MB.

Not to mention I use a 2GB card

Loading VC games off an SD card would be perfect! I have 6 N64 games on my homescreen, and would like to have more. Unfortunately, if I installed 1 more game, I would be out of space, not being able to add anything else. So for me, an SD card solution would be awesome!

I think that in near future even nintendo will be forced to do something like that. Some people out there buy a lot of those VC and Wiiware games. If the memory goes full then no more more games.no more money for ninty. From the other hand to erase a game that you bought it's a little bit idiotic. All of us like to make a game collection

According to the spec for SD (not SDHC) cards you can have 4096 clusters, 512 blocks per cluster and 2048 bytes per block = 4gb of usable space on an SD card.
In other words if the Wii supports the SD spec correctly then thats a lot of VC/Homebrew or even an entire single layer dvd...

Bumping this old thread!

Is there any new software that allows loading VC/WiiWare from the SD card or disc yet?

The system memory is way to small.
