So the left joy con analog stick got damaged and sticks in every direction with no motion when pressing in on the stick. I took it apart wondering if it was maybe some dirt or something under the stick but no luck. Put everything back together and it was still working properly or so I had though. Last night when I went to use it, the left joy con is no longer charging. I did press the sync button on the controller a couple of times and it did light up enough to connect for a moment and tell me the battery is drained but now it's not even lighting up at all.
Could this be, because it thinks the analog stick is pressed in all the time, thus draining the battery before it has a chance to charge? I did open it again and checked every connection and just disconnected the analog stick to see if it would get at least a little bit of juice to turn on but nothing after 15 mins. Going to leave it for at least an hour and check again to see if there has been any change.
Anyone have any other reasons that it wouldn't charge?

Not sure if this is the case. However I have issues sometimes where the joycon will not show its true power. I have to go into settings and pick disconnect controllers. Any other method seems not to work. If your lucky it's along those lines and not a hardware fault.

Thanks for your suggestion but after some further troubleshooting it's defiantly a hardware issue. Swapped batteries with the right joy con and while the controller works it only works over bluetooth. When I snap the left joy con in place on the switch it's not being recognized as attached but still connected via blue tooth. I'm just not sure if the problem is the rail on the joy con or the rail on the switch itself. All pins and connections appear to be normal so I'm wondering if the button being constantly stuck on the controller may have fried a regulator or something. I need to test with a second joy con before I start ripping more stuff apart. At least I can just swap batteries for now and having a working console.

Spend a lot of time trying to fix it, or spend too much money (lol Nintendo) to buy a new set of joycons. They're not hard to find, especially if you don't care what color.

Most likely it's the ribbon cable for the rail, if you have never used a jig or shorted your pins.

I’ve used a jig but it’s the left side. Jig is used in the right. Ribbon cable looks in good shape upon inspection but I guess it could be the issue. I assume I’d have to replace the whole rail if that’s the case since the ribbon cable doesn’t appear to be detachable.

As an update.. I've gone as far as to replace the joy con rail and ribbon cables and the thing still won't charge or detect when attached to the switch. Still not sure if it's the joy con itself or the switch. Bought a pro controller and have been using that as it's a pain in the arse to swap the joy con batteries when ever the other needs charging.

I have the same problem. Both pair of joycons will not charge now. I ordered a stand to charge mine hopefully that will charge them. I didn't have this problem until I updated the emunand to 6.2. but even on the stock nand it will not charge....IDK I am at a lost. I'll let u know Saturday if the charging stand works.

So got my charging station today and both pairs of joy cons are charged and work. So something is wrong with my switches charging pins or the 6.2 update doesn't charge them for some reason.
