Possible, yes. But at the current moment you'll need a DS Flashcart to launch CFW.

Then it won't work xD, try downgrading to 4.x with GW launcher (You don't need GW for it) and see if ur r4 works with 4.x!

my r4upgrade is very old.. works great on my old DSPHAT but not on my 3dsXL (4.5e too)...

R4 WILL NOT WORK ON ANY 3DS FIRMWARE, you'll need one that has at least 4.5 support for 3DS!
