Who would you list as having an influence on your sense of humor?
Why did you decide to make comics?

Sorry folks, but this session's over. When you get a chance to answer the unanswered questions geo just shoot a PM to a mod asking one of us to unlock the thread for you.

Where am I? <b>You're in GBAtemp! Or what's left of it, after the Pokenvasion.</b>
Yes or No? <b>¡Sí!</b>
Who am I?<b>You're the eccentric and certifiably awesome Cat Boy, brightening up GBAtemp with your own distinct, signature coolness!</b>
If you could fly, would you? <b>Of course! Who wouldn't want to have an evening flight over the nearest grocery store for some donuts every once in a while?</b>
Have you ever used the M3 Quad-Boot? <b>I can't say that I have. Though it seems pretty full-featured. G'job!</b>

Mac or PC (if you had the choice which ever you choose was payed for you.) <b>I've already got a decent Windows PC, so I'd try out a Mac. iPad? thoughts? <b>Considering the fact that much of its functionality, apart from the higher-res-but-still-not-HD screen, is also found on the iPhone and iPod Touch line, I think it's a bit of an unnecessary device. Once again, Pee-Wee says so, so it must be true!

<!--quoteo(post=3118134:date=Sep 14 2010, 05:48 PM:name=flameiguana)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(flameiguana @ Sep 14 2010, 05:48 PM) <a href="index.php?act=findpost&pid=3118134"><{POST_SNAPBACK}></a></div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Do you have a favorite cartoonist?
<b>Yes, I have a few.

For one, Chuck Jones is A-MA-ZING. He's world-renowned for his work, and has most notably worked on the <i>Looney Tunes</i> and <i>Merrie Melodies</i> cartoons, and was a huge influence in their road to their immense popularity today. He was a clever, talented, and prolific cartoonist whose unique touch has stood the test of time, and has influenced every cartoon on television today. His cartoons are so creative. I can identify a Jones cartoon just by looking at it because they're a constant barrage of unique quirkiness, ingenuity and flair has been subsequently imitated by many, but surpassed by none.

Another one of my favorites is John Kricfalusi. Yes, I know that opinions of him differ dramatically between people. Not everyone will agree with me when I say that he is one of the best cartoonists living today. He's meticulous to a fault, he's blatantly egotistical, and he has a tendency to criticize nearly every piece of animation he lays eyes on, for one reason or another. But never before have I seen such an outspoken, creative, and overall entertaining guy, by any standards. He's a walking cartoon encyclopedia, a wonderful artist, and very creative and versatile. He's taught me a lot of what I know about animation and cartoons, and I love the guy.

Charles Schulz. Oh, that guy. His Peanuts characters are cherished and are immediately recognizable to an unfathomable amount of people today, and have transcended generations. Yes, past the deluge of Peanuts merchandise remains the plain fact that the Peanuts comic strip, as well as its animated specials, are clever, delightful, and heartwarming cartoons that have undoubtedly influenced every comic strip today. Charles himself was a humble, modest man whom I can immediately relate to. Over the course of his life, he had been subject to many trials and struggles. He's such a darn trooper, and it's no coincidence that his life has many parallels to his Charlie Brown character. His comic strip is a collective masterpiece, and it deserves every bit of the notoriety it gets.

Finally, with the first three seasons of Spongebob Squarepants being one of my absolute favorite cartoons, I have to give a big nod to the writers that have helped craft the series, and ultimately project it into the stardom it sees today. These guys are the epitome of a good writing team. By just watching their episodes, you can tell that they love what they do, and they had tons of fun writing the episodes. From seasons one through three, these people have countlessly proved themselves to be masters of humor, and shown time and time again that they're capable of some hilarious stuff. Their "Let's take turns" method of writing has been adopted by tons of subsequent cartoons, as has their reinvention of what a modern cartoon should be. These people have influenced me to no end. Nearly all of these cartoonists have now branched off to do their own things, and since their departure, it's the opinion of many fans that the series has seen a dramatic drop in writing quality. So my props go out to:
Paul Tibbitt
CH Greenblatt
Jay Lender
Mr. Lawrence
Walt Dohrn
Mark O'Hare
Merriwether Williams
Tim Hill
Ennio Torresan
Peter Burns
Sherm Cohen
Erik Wiese
William Reiss
Chuck Klein
Kent Osbourne
Derek Drymon
and series creator Stephen Hillenburg for creating one of the best cartoon series in history. </b>

What do you think of The Far Side? <b>I get a good laugh out of it. Gary Larson is a very versatile guy, and his strip has a way of making people laugh, no matter what they're interested in. </b>

Ever read MAD magazine when it was good? <b> Yes! I discovered my uncle's old collection of MAD zines, and the difference from back then to today is astounding, and kind of bums me out. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":O" border="0" alt="ohmy.gif" /> </b>
Are you into satire or just general weirdness? <b>I'm very much find of satirical stuff. Weirdness can only go so far, and once the entertainment of it runs out, you need actual, legitimate humor to back it up. Just look at tons of today's webtoons and ninety-nine percent of crap on... (gulp)... Newgrounds today (ugh, I shudder at the very utterance of the word). Randomness and weirdness is funny when sprinkled lightly, but full-out when plastered on, it just gets tired, and stupid.</b>

Thank you, we will consider your application. <b>*crosses fingers* </b>

If there is any movie, show, series, or band that you could recommend and be assured that someone else would give a try, what would it be?
<b>I'm enamored with the first three seasons of Spongebob Squarepants, and it it continues to make me laugh to this day. In terms of music, I'd have to say that going back through the older albums of Pink Floyd was a very unique experience. There's a lot more to the band than just the three songs that make it to the radio. They've experimented with different genres and subject matter, and all in all, they're a very creative and unique band. Of course, you may already know what I'm talking about. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /></b><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

<!--quoteo(post=3119336:date=Sep 15 2010, 02:00 AM:name=Vulpes Abnocto)--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Vulpes Abnocto @ Sep 15 2010, 02:00 AM) <a href="index.php?act=findpost&pid=3119336"><{POST_SNAPBACK}></a></div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Who would you list as having an influence on your sense of humor? <b>As stated in my response to flameiguana's "favorite cartoonist" question, my influences include Chuck Jones, John Kricfalusi, Charles Schulz, and the Seasons 1-3 Spongebob writers, namely CH Greenblatt. I've also been influenced by Bill Watterson, author of Calvin and Hobbes, as well as Bob Clampett, a classic cartoonist in the same vein as Chuck Jones. I know there's tons more that have influenced me, but I can't think of them at this moment, regrettably. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /></b>

Why did you decide to make comics? <b>I've always had an interest and knack for cartoons. Cartoons can be anything you want. They can be wacky, they can be serious, they can be as exaggerated or realistic as you want. I like comics because they're a versatile, expressive way to get a point across, and just make people laugh. I don't do any comic-type things outside of my GBAtemp signatures. I'm actually more of an aspiring animator, myself. It's just that animation takes so much more time and dedication that I can't just pump them out as fast. To this date, I've some sort of animated cartoon plan in the pipeline. I plan to buy a decent screen-based Wacom tablet and work independently with a few friends on it eventually. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /></b><!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

I greatly appreciate everyone's questions. I had fun!
