Kirby fans will be pleased to learn that the pink blob is set to make his Wii debut proper in a new game.

Hoshi No Kirby (Kirby Of The Stars) is listed on Nintendo's latest release schedule at the end of the company's latest Financial Results Briefing document.

Kirby is one of a few of Nintendo's main stars that has yet to appear in his own Wii game. He featured in Super Smash Bros. Brawl but the last time he played the lead role on a home console was in 2004 racing game Kirby's Air Ride.

You have to go back to 2001 for his last appearance in an adventure game - Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards.

Little is known about this new game and we don't know for sure when it will be released. The release date is listed as TBA for Japan while it is missing from the Europe and US sections of the schedule.

Still, it's good to know that he will star in his own game again. What sort of Kirby game would you like to play?

If it's anything like Superstar Ultra, I'm sold. Kirby's awesome. About damn time some of the big names started geting a little Wii love. Gives me hope for Starfox Wii, 2D Metroid DS, F-Zero on pretty much anything (provided the story mode isn't such a bitch this time, there's challenging and there's just plain kicking me in the nuts for hours on end, you know?), a new Fire Emblem on DS instead of a remake (and drop the crappy graphical style, go back to the GBA sprites, they looked much better), and maybe even a new game with Yoshi as the star since he doesn't get out much on his own, really. The timing's perfect what with Yoshi hype being at an all time high with SMG2 just around the corner.

This "news" is just a repeat of every release schedule and Financial Result since 2007. No idea what Nintendo have been doing with the game since it was cancelled on the Gamecube but they keep listing this all the time.

Hoshi No Kirby was meant to be released in 2007, 2008 & 2009.

This game has been "confirmed" every year and then gone unreleased for four successive years thus far.

Somehow this game is always listed in the schedule of upcoming game but I think until Nintendo doesn`t show any images or footage of the game nobody can be certain, that it will come out...

IMO this is not even remotely an announcement!

the best kirby i have played was for the snes which was not a side scroller but just pushing ppl of the board (dream land was it?)
this is very vague and hence it could even be at the end of the year ie. christmas
wasnt there a title for the DS which became very famous? why do they limit it to 2001
