And it's not like the fact a device is a brain-melting death ray ever stopped a gizmo from being used in homes. I mean, just look at microwave ovens :ha:

Microwave ovens have mesh in the door to stop microwave energy from cooking you. This has nothing, they aren't going to let you have something that would burn you (probably quite badly) somewhere where you can just walk into it by accident. If you stuck some sort of safety cage around this it would be no better than the other 3D methods. Exploding the air seems a little extreme just to have a floating image if you ask me.

But it would be real 3D, glasses-free, viewable from any angle, by as many people as you want, and the effect doesn't break no matter how you tilt or turn your head. Even if you have to stick it in an aquarium it would still be better than the existing tech.

EDIT: and you can get the projector to simply shut the laser off when someone or something comes near the projection area.

Somehow, I now have Dr. Lights capsule theme stuck in my head thanks to this.

When this is affordable, I will have one.

I will admit however, my cat would likely freak out at it.

Okay. That's really cool. Has anyone noticed that the projector is very limited?

1. It is monochromatic. Images are green, and will be green due to obvious limitations of the lightsource used.
The enginner said that coloured images can be produced with the inclusion of red, green and blue lasers
2. It only shows incredibly simple objects.
Most shown in the video are animated, like a dolphin swimming for instance. It's not bad, but hey we all gotta start somewhere
3. It is prone to quick wear-and-tear due to rapidly moving mechanical parts.
4. It flickers. Alot. 15 FPS is not much for now.
For now.
...

Rather than liquids, this system uses reflections.

EDIT: These new YT codes are blerght! 3 edits, no effect. >>
Regardless, 3D technology is far too young to expect any real commercial applications. I'd rather stick with good old 2D HD for a few more decades.
