Hacking Jap wii with modchip

My dad brought me back one from malasyia that all ready had a chip installed.
He was sure the guy in the shop told him it was a wiikey chip but last night
when i tried to update to 1.9 the test failed. Does that mean i have not got a wiikey chip
or was i doing something wrong?

Malay sellers =)

Most of Malay sellers claimed that they use Wiikey, even for new set with D2C, D2C2 or D2E. I personally know 4 similar cases, which end up with D2CPro when i opened the Wii to check.

Enter your serial to http://wiitracker.nintendo-scene.com/ to find out the chipset of your DVD drive. Although its database is not up to date, but if the result is D2C, obviously the modchip is not Wiikey.

will give it a go, Thing is i cant play any off the latest games as i get that 001 error

is there a way to update the D2CPro chip to play the latest games?

They are not always D2CPro, i have a D2CPro and never have 001 error.

Not very sure about other chips. But most of time i heard about 001 error is because of Wiikey clone.

Search around for the patch for 001 error. You should patch the ISO, not the mod chip.
