This sounds a lot like a rumor. No "official" source mentioning it... And I doubt Comex wouldn use his exploit without the bootrom exploit (Limera1n). He would most likely just untether it, not create a whole new jailbreak.

I have seen a number of sites which claim "JailbreakMe 3.0" will be released on 30/12/10, but I think the only official word on the topic is that an exploit (unnamed AFAIK) will be released on that date. I think comex said that himself.

It is rumored that the jailbreak cannot be made due to the fact that apple might have patched limera1n itself click here for details.

A new version of jailbreakme would use a userland exploit alone, which has nothing to with the Limera1n exploit. And the fact that Apple *might* be patching newer devices wouldn't stop the jailbreak developers from using Limera1n.

Dev-Team responds: The 2 times Apple has fixed bootrom so far, the bootrom version # changed too. This is still showing 574.4, so I wouldn’t worry.
