I'm going to say it, my favorite genre in all of gaming is shmups. There's just a great feeling about memorizing enemy patterns, upgrading your ship, killing bosses, etc. Unfortunately, I've noticed a huge lack of them on DS. The only notable games that I can think of are:

Glory Days 2
Bangai-O (some may call it puzzle/action though)
Nanostray 1+2
Ketsui Death Label (J)
Space Invaders Extreme 1+2
Retro Games Challenge (A solid shmup was included)

I've also tried a few homebrew games, like bullet hell gba, which is a blast, but it's not really what I'm looking for. Are there any retail shmups that I'm missing? Also don't bother going over anything that requires an emulator, unless the emulation is perfect (example: gradius 3 on snes).

But yeah discuss your favorite DS Shmups in general, suggest more, do whatever.

Also, if you aren't familiar with shmups (shame on you!): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shmup

Zombie BBQ was a pretty good. I liked it, obviously.

Konami Classic Series: Arcade Hits, or whatever it's called, has a lot of great shmups. There's Contra (I consider it a shmup), Gradius, and Scramble (old school!).

Geometry Wars, maybe? I don't know much about it, though.
