New to PC games, first time actually, so got Ultra Street Fighter 4 and heard only way to play online is with steam? Since it wasnt downloaded via steam, how do you play it online?

As far as i'm aware of it's not possible, piracy on pcs comes at a cost. What you could do is get the original, it's cheap nowadays especially since it's been bundled before.

There was a method of playing any pirated game online through steam but it has long since been patched.

If I had to guess, they're probably privately hosted matches.

What machomuu said. They were most likely hosting private matches, maybe via Hamachi or Tunngle.

Generally, that's the only way you can play pirated PC games online.

No, it's just the pre-load files. For people with potato connections to download, so they already have the game files when a crack is released.
